can OBD2B motor run with a OBD2A ecu? PLEASE HELP ME OUT HT!!!
i have a question that i really need help on...
i have a 1999 civic ex and i am planning to swap in a 2000 ls motor soon. my question is, would a 2000 ls ecu run in my car because i heard there was some kind of security key mobilizer that disables my car from starting with the 2000 ls ecu??? is that true?? so if this is true, i thought i should just buy a obd2b to obd2a jumper harness because i heard thats what i should do... is that true?? can my obd2b ls motor run on a obd2a ls ecu????
PLEASE HELP ME OUT GUYS!!

x2.

I just read it again, i think in cali u need the ecu to be from the same year as the motor, so stepping down to obd2a wouldnt work out to well, but the car will run
then you can't run a '00 LS engine in cali... (cali emissions sucks like that)
to run the immobilizer you'll need the antenna (around the ignition switch) and the wiring that goes with it, as well as the key that's programmed into the ECU.
If you cna't get the key... Tow the car to the dealship with everything installed and setup, and have them program it for you. But unless you know someone at an Acura dealership it requires proof of sale for the ECU with VIN number listed to check if it's stolen, and pretty much your life story to get done.

the immobilizer can also be removed from the computer, there was a how to here but it was deleted for security reasons(dont want info it to fall into the wrong hands(theives)) do a search the info is out there somewhere

Problem is, the ECU looks for the immobilizer and throws a CEL when it's removed. In most states, they won't even inspect a car with a light on, so this doesn't help much.
More info from Katman's site: http://ecu.ff-squad.com/faq.imm.htm
I'm also contemplating this swap, so I would like to know if I can just use an OBD2a P75 instead with a jumper harness. This harness should do it, correct: http://rywire.com/store/obd2b-...345bd
