Default 98 Civic Window Problem

my window on my civic hatchback is having trouble rolling up. Infact, to get it to come up i have to pull up on the window as i roll. i have a lot of grease residue left on my window. If i wanted to get this fixed what all would i need? just the window glider? thanks.

well i hear a clicking noise as i try to roll the window, infact its gotten so bad it sometimes even skips clicks. i would suppose i need to replace the entire window glider assembly?

you might need to replace the regulators. that was the case with my 96' hatch anyways(but mine are manual so i dont know if its the same.),
its like $80 from honda. but... like 'austinkli' said, or better yet showed. silicone spray is your friend.

if everytime u hear a click the window stops or jolts, then its probably a regulater.

if the window keeps moving but u hear a click, check the motor

the windows are manual. does anyone have a diagram of the window assembly? so are you saying i need regulators, and not the gliders? everytime i do try to roll the window up it will jolt. kinda like its about to go up upon full rotation, but suddenly drops a bit, roll up some more, drop. then i have to assist by pulling the window up. thanks for all the help so far

oh, and if it helps, the grease residue is only found towards the inside front of the window, by the drivers side mirror.

I was having the same problem with my pasenger window. I read this thread, went out and bought some liquid silicon, removed the door panel and the window. I sprayed electrical cleaner to get rid of all the sticky greas resedue, whiped it down and lubed the guide rails with liquid silicone. put it all together and presto... it works like a charm. I even sprayed the Driver window just 'cause it worked so well.

FYI- when I bought the Liqid silicone I noticed that it didn't come with one of those red pricitioin spray straws, so I took one off one of the other cans and stuck it to mine. You'll need it if you don't want to spray everythig. I read the can and it said that that stuff is water proof so it'll be a bitch to clean if you got it everywhere.

thanks, ill grab a can of that silicone. however, i still think im going to have replace some of the parts in the window. i think this problem has escalated too far for silicone to fix my problem. does anyone know the answer to my previous question??
