Default 2 piece rotor.

Does anyone know of a 2 piece rotor that is a direct replacement for the factory rotor?
I don't want to run larger than 15" wheels and I would rather not run adapters brackets for larger than stock rotors.
The car is a 93 civic dx, but I have the parts to run larger integra rotors... if that's my only option.

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

I used the Fastbrakes 2pc for the past 2 seasons, great bang for the buck. Just get the rotors turned/trued before you use them. For some reason both of my sets had a bad vibration when used new out of the box, but were fine after they were cut.

Here are a couple of pics of the Fastbrakes 2pc with ITR calipers.

For this season I'm trying out the 2pc Stoptech Aero rotors. The main difference being that the Stoptech's are a true 2pc floating rotor and the Fastbrakes 2pc just bolt together.

ah ha! a floating rotor is what I am after.
I've run floating 2 piece on my 240 and currently on my Jetta.

A floating 2 piece rotor will allow for expansion and contraction. It usually has bobbins between the hat and the rotor ring.
A non floating 2 piece rotor has only bolts between the hat and the rotor ring.

Well, yeah, but on a non-floating 2 piece rotor you also get the pleasure of having 16 (8*2) more bolts going into aluminum just waiting to get threads trashed... plus a bunch of safety-wiring to make sure they don't back out with the thermal expansion/contraction Pain in the ***, and spare hats are expensive!

How quick is a floating rotor rotor-change, if you don't have spare hats or anything? It's about an hour job with the non-floating one. I use a torque wrench on all the bolts now to make sure the threads don't get stripped.

[edit, looking at Stoptech's site, I guess it's pretty similar time?]

How much did you guys pay for the Stoptech Aero rotors? Also, how long do they last, and how easy is it replace a worn rotor? And how much weight did you save over the stock rotor?

6ghatch,

Do you have a part number for that stoptech aero rotor? Is that a standard 282mm/25mm rotor? I'm running the ITR front calipers w/redrilled 4x100 '96 prelude vtec rotors. I'd like to get a stoptech aero rotor for my application.

Stoptech told me the part # was 81.057.0111, but when I look in their catalog, I see they are using that same part # for 5 lug applications as well which has me a bit confused.

I don't have a part number, I just called them and asked for it. I believe it's just the 282/25mm rotor with a 4x100 hat.

Are there any weight savings compared to the stock rotors?

Yes, but I couldn't tell you how much.

I would love to get a 300mm/25mm 2 piece rotor and use a 4x100 hat but it looks like the only ones available are from Project MU and therefore like $750 per pair...
