CIVIC HIGH REV
I have a 95 Honda Civic DX. The guy who owned the car before me blew the motor, and put in a D16Z6? This is a VTEC motor? When I started having my friends put together some performance stuff, we kept starting it to make sure everything was working and plugged in right, but now it high rev's when I start it. We did a lot of stuff to it in one day, so I am not sure what would cause this.
I was told it might be a vacuum line, we checked them all. I thought it was the intake so we put the stock one back on, still did it. We put the cold air back on and disconnected all of the vacuum hoses, and replaced them all, still does it. The only thing I can think is it's this block spacer we put in. I take it out, and put it back together, and it does it, but it only rev's to like 4,000 now...it's better but still rev's high. I am so lost! I checked the cable tension, and everything else I could think of, what am I missing?????

ummm...well it sounds like you have checked everything..i would say double check all the vaum lines....That would be your number one worry...And list the mods that you did and i could give you some pointers....That would halp a lot...also check your idle control vavle...clean it..and make sure that its not sticky...also make sure that there is no water in the connectors..where the connectors connect into the sensors on the intake maifold...that could cause a short to the ecm.... Just doulble check everything again...somthing has to be put together rong..if the car ran perfectly before doing the mods...
x2 to the dude above me, some things he forgot to mention though are the intake air temp sensor and the coolant temp sensor... i wouldnt be able to tell you the specs of those, but its just something to check... my beater buick had a bad coolant temp sensor and the idle shot up so high i could barely keep the car in place when it was in drive and the brake pedal floored... so be sure to check that.
