1990 CRX Same Old Idle Issue
My 1990 crx has surging idle issues. Sometimes (most of the time) the car, while at idle, will surge from 1000rpm to about 1800rpm. I have checked everything mentioned in the forums, relative to this issue and I have found no solution. I found that if I lift the hood and fooled around with the throttle cable it will stop temporarily. Also, I just discovered today that if I pull up on the gas pedal (with my foot or my hand while at a stop) the problem will go away as well and the car will idle lower (at about 700prm). I just can't figure out how to adjust the cable so it will become a permanent fix. Any suggestions?
Thanks

so what have you tried already? Iacv, fitv, vacuum leaks?
and the throttle cable shouldnt cause this, but maybe some thing weird is going on.

There should be a spring attached to the gas pedal to pull it back out. make sure that is in place. You might lube the cable up too, and check for binding as hoodlover mentioned.

I've had similar problems with my EF9's idle, was sitting at 2k-3k at times O_O
To fix it I cleaned up the throttle body with degreaser and ajusted the idle sensor, Seems to have done the trick!
