Autometer shiftlight wire in with factory tachometer?
Just wondering if anybody else here has ever attempted wiring in an aftermarket shift light to work in conjunction with the factory tachometer?
I have a 94' CX Hatchback, in which I picked up a cluster out of an EX 5-speed car (factory tachometer gauge cluster) and instead of one of those big *** shiftlights that normally come with the 5'' Autometer tach, I want to use one of those writing pen sized shiftlights, so that i might be able to hide it in one of my A/C vents or something.....
Question being, is there anyway I can get this aftermarket shiftlight to work with my factory gauge cluster? If so, HOW????
Thanks,

Yes, wire it up the same way as you would with an aftermarket tach. The wires can be wired into the cluster harness.
Shift Light Wire ---> Cluster Harness Wire
1. Green (tach signal) ---> Blue
2. Red (12v) ---> Black/Yellow
3. Ground ---> dash bolt or Black

I didn't know you could plug those chips into the smaller shift lights....
I'm talking about one of the shift lights that might be as big around as a sharpie marker.....

summit makes an rpm activated switch, thats what i used. I think its like 40 bucks and you don't need to buy any "pills" you can adjust it in 100rpm increments, i think it will adjust up to 10k
Does the number of cylinders really matter?
Because on the page, it specifies that it's calibrated for a V-8 engine....
Thanks for the link BTW....
