Default Unique setup, DPFI D16A6 ?

My brother just recently discovered what a ruined engine is like after running it for who knows how long with half the recommended amt. of oil in the engine. He drives a 1990 DX hatch, and I've given him this proposition. Pay me for my D16A6 and I'll put it in his car.

The car is junk, it's been wrecked twice, and he's washed it once in the two years he's owned it, so I'm just doing this to get him something to drive. So here is my proposition:

To make this easier on myself and those involved, my friend and fellow poster Eh3Civic, can install the D16A6 in his car, hook up the DPFI intake manifold, hook up the wiring harness to that (since everything should fit properly), and use the stock DPFI ECU? Yes he'll be reusing his stock DX longer geared transmission as well.

I just want to know if I'm going to experience any problems at all with this idea in mind. I didn't want to have to wire it up for MPFI if I didn't have to.

Thanks.

if your going to just switch the motors youll be fine no modifications needed you use the same ecu and everything but if your going to do a mpfi swap thats a whole new story

I've been there and done that...You can even leave the dpfi hooked up to the engine bay, and slide the d16a6 long block up in there. You will get all kinds of idiots on here arguing about this and the combination is not ideal, but it will work....good luck

YES it works perfectly fine. The water tube thing on the back of the motor will A: need to be switched out with the d15b2 one or B: Blocked off in some way. i used a piece of hose and a bolt with a hose clamo on both ends. works lke a charm and been like this for 50,xxx miles no prob. Also the timing is hard to get just right IMHO so you'll have to play with it. I think it is advanced on the NORMAL position of up so it has to be retarted a little. (if i remember correct, been a few years).

i ran this same setup for a couple years...only swapped that DPFI intake manifold. no other mods needed. it ran great, with good power, and i got 40-47mpg

so no need to switch out the water tube on the back of the motor? I wouldn't think it would need to be in the first place..... Thanks guys, this'll make this whole thing so much easier.

I'll be able to put more time into getting my B16A prepped and ready once the D16A6 gets finds it's way into my brothers car.

Then I'll have a mint Si Transmission, MPFI Setup, and DC 4-2-1 header for an A6 up for sale....

the reason is teh DPFI Intake manifold doesnt use two water hoses for cooling the manifold like the MPFI. if you dont switch it or dont plug it water shoots out of it full blast cause it is right by the water pump. you'll see when you get everything in...i did it 2 times cause i have put in 2 motors in my DX rex.

I just recently bought a 89 crx dx with the d16a6 dpfi. It runs good just have a high idle issue after warmup. I think could be ficv or eacv
