Hello, I just bought a civic that was lowered by the previous owner. I lived in a place where they have high bumpers to prevent speeding. I just want to raise it up an inch so i can run over the bumpers without going sideway all the time. How do I raise it up? Here is the pictures to get the idea how low it is.

do you know what the car is lowered on? if the car is lowered on springs, you can replace them with springs that dont go as low or stock springs, or if it is lowered on coilovers, you can just adjust the height.

 

ok, just jacked the civic up and looked at it. It's sitting on yellow springs. I guess going back to stock springs is the best way. How hard is it to install the springs?

 

hi again, would the stock springs from 92-95 hatchback/sedan fit my 94 coupe ex?

Your tires look kind of small too. It might also help to get a little bit larger tires when you get new ones. Otherwise you will have to change out springs ot change the ride height.

 

my tires are 195/60/R14 and when i make a turn, it can almost scrape my bumper. Any larger will not work.

 

sounds like you'll have to replace them with the stock springs. the best way to replace them is to have your mechanic do it, unless you have access to a strut spring compressor- in which case youll have to pull off all 4 wheels, disconnect the lower ball joints, unbolt the struts(shocks) from the lower control arm, remove the 3 nuts that hold the strut to the strut tower under the hood BUT DO NOT REMOVE THE LARGE NUT IN THE CENTER OF THE STRUT TOWER. this could inflict SERIOUS injury if removed, as it will release the spring from the strut with huge amounts of force. then, install on a spring compressor, remove the springs, and install the stock ones. then slap 'er back together, and enjoy.

 

OH and btw, sedan/coupe/hatchback springs are all identical.

 

so i take it that the stock springs from 92-95 hatchback/sedan will fit mine. From your descriptions, it doesnt seem as hard as i thought.

Don't rip it apart if they are coil overs.

 

they are springs. I know what i'm doing, just never dealing with suspension before. I did a few engine/transmission on my accord and my cousin's mustang so this suspension work seems to be a piece of cake compare to those.

btw, do i need to do alignment after changing springs?

 

yes, you would want to do a alignment after you mess with your suspension
