nitrous questions
i have a 00 base with i/h/e. i am going to get a wet nitrous kit and run about a 75 shot. my question is would it be worth my time to use a buddy club v con that i got for free as well as an apexi safc2 that i can get for pennies on the dollar? i know that people say "piggyback units suck" and "vtec controllers are useless" but it seems like it would be good to do in my situation cause i do not plan to go much further with the mods.
Would be a good idea to get tuned afterwards. You don't want anything to go wrong and for your motor to have a decent hole in it. I have also heard that messing around with the VTEC setting can actually reduce your power output.
Dont touch your vtec engagement with out some kind of tune or dyno time, its just not worth it,also be sure to run at least 1 step colder plugs with a 75 shot.I used 2 steps colder and retarded the ignition timing 1.5 degrees when I was running my 80 shot.
It doesn't necessarily reduce your power output but it can change your powerband. Like the above said, the only way to adjust vtec cross over is at the dyno, or your just guessing.

Yes, you are correct. I worded wrong. Too early of an engagement can result in a loss of power right before VTEC engages and screw around with the smoothness of your power. Honda did not just "guess" while choosing VTEC's engagement point.
I think the general consensus is to visit a tuner after your nitrous install. Nitrous can be seen as such a difficult matter; running too lean can result in serious damage to your engine.

a SAFC is not a vtec controller, and will do nothing for a vtec car, you need a VAFC
if you do get a VAFC, tune your car all motor.....then do all your necessary precautions for nitrous. after that, tune the nitrous with the JETS NOT the VAFC.....

^dont run a dry kit.....unless you can tune it with something....
for a 55 shot i'd run 1 step colder plugs and 100 octane., 75 shot i would do the same as a 55 plus retard the timing 2*
