Default Have question about heavy black soot coming out of wastegate!

so today i baught back my old LS-T civic and when i opened the hood their is a huge black soot spot from the wastegate under my hood what could be causing this? i will take pics of the soot later.

also when i had the car it never sooted like that and i drove it daily always gettin on it and racing people

That's normal, if you don't want it making your engine bay dirty, make a dumptube.

alright so its normal for it to soot?? your right i dont have a dumptube but i was just makin sure it was normal the motor is a b18a1 with 84k on it so its semi fresh

Perfectly normal. Get a dumptube otherwise it's going to get worse!

whats a good size to make the dumptube the same size at the wastegate flange?

what did you expect to come out of an exposed wastegate? Fabreeze?

Yes, 1.5" (~38mm) should do the trick.

There could be two things causing this. One, you dont have a dumptube which would allow soot to accumulate over time and look like a big deal or two, you're running rich during full boost and need a slightly better tune. I'm going to assume its a slightly conservative tune on a stock block with gradual accumulation of soot over time due to not having a dump tube....aka no big deal

well besides that point do any of u guys kno where i can have a nice downpipe made for a 92 lsT teg cause im swapping everything from my coupe to a teg and obviously with that cross member im gonna need a fancy downpipe
