Christ, another ricer
Vtec doesn't 'hit' It just changes the cams to another profile, Honda designed it to work, and work well (Not a single documented failure of the Vtec system EVER) so why screw with it?
If you change the RPMs that it changes the cam over at (Ala Vtec Controller) You will be HURTING your power with a stock or bolt-on motor, as again HONDA designed it to change at a certain RPM for a reason, and if you feel that you know better than the company that designed the car, go right ahead and buy a Vtec controller.....
there is only ONE way to make your car faster 'for free' and that is eat less, and dump excess weight out of the car, there is no such thing as 'free' horsepower...

I joined this forum Nov. 14 2005. I only have 345 posts since then. The reason is because I use this forum as a REFERENCE. Any time I need a question I get on here and search and Search and search. I search for hours a day without posting a single thing because every single one of my questions has been answered. BTW everything I have learned about my car, which is quite a bit, I have learned from this website. I never had anyone to teach me, and my friends act like they know what they are talking about but dont.
So a tip for the future, do a search. And check the FAQ's.
BTW I had just turned 16 when I started reading up, I'm 19 now and still don't know squat compared to the amount of knowledge out there, but I have learned ALOT from this site and its beautiful search feature.
