Questions about my del Sol engine
I have a 93 del Sol and the engine had been replaced before i got it. I don't know for sure what engine it is but the guy said it's just a normal 1.5 liter non-vtec. but, whenever i accelerate quickly i notice that there seems to be some kinda of a small boost at certain times. i read that vtecs have a boost at around 4000 rpms. i tested my car and no matter what gear i'm in, every single time i hit 4000 rpms (right on the line), it does the boost. it's not real powerful or anything and if it is a vtec, it's probably the lowest one there is. is my engine a vtec? oh, and there is no vtec symbol on the valve cover. and it is an sohc.

Well its deff not a d16z6 motor....
Im willing to bet that its a d15 motor. The guy who sold you the car is telling you the truth. But to be exactly sure, look at the front of the block. To the left of the exhaust header, there will be an ingraving on the block. That will tell you what motor it is.

d15 spark plugs are on the back.
on a d16 spark plugs are on the front.
mine does that too, its because all your power...what little bit there is...is in the top end 4k rpms and up.
