Default Recomend me some headers please

I am looking to replace my stock clogged up header/cat combo to something aftermarket, the car is a 98 ek hatch dx (D16Y7 I think), and I am not looking to eliminate my cat converter, what set up should I go for?

there are headers on ebay for like $40 but I don't trust that stuff, are they any good?

Budget is $150.

thanks

ebay set-up, no real reason to try and go N/A with your y7. In the long run you'll end up wanting to swap it out for something else anyways so just save your money and dont try to race anyone till the time being lol But if its a must you get something I think a megan header would be around your price range.

that's exactly what you have to do on y7s/b8s and other motors that have thecat in the header part.

Personally if you're just going for looks with a small performance gain go ebay/megan....DCs are WAAYYY overpriced and the edelbrock is out of your price range(though it does perform VERY well)

get megan header. they are pretty good product and if your old cat converter is broken. u can either find a used one or a new one will cost u around $130 from muffler shop. oem will be more expensive. so u might want to raise the budget

agreed - megan headers are probably the best bang for your buck

best thing IMO would be get a universal highflow cat though....OEMs are pretty restrictive

I'm looking on ebay there's like millions of them! Which one did you use? I wanna just clamp it down, no welding, any ideas what size inlet/outlet I should buy?

Just be prepared for that header to leak at the welds. Hope you can weld.

2 of my friends got the true ebay ones(not megan racing which I'd imagine are of a little better quality) and niether of them leaked in the 4-5 months they each had them(bought them to make the engine bay look better untill their turbo builds were ready) also these serve as a nice weight reduction for the price....the stock header is around 30 or so lbs if not more([freak]ing cast iron ) a stainless 2 pc. design is around 15lbs

Dont forget, that the y7 exhaust manifold is differnt from all other d series, meaning you cant get a z6 or y8 manifold for your y7 motor and vice versa, i learned the hardway after buying a dc sports y7 header for my y8 head!
