b16 tranny?
i have a question about my tranny. i hit the freeway and im going 80mph. im on 5th gear and my idle is at 4k. do i have a b16 tranny? or is it a stock LS. oh my car is a 91 LS. just got it. everything is stock. and it has a chipped ECU that revs up to 8. if that makes any diff.
Sounds like a gsr tranny with 80mph@4k rpm. But it seems like you have a cable tranny since its a '91 so i think its unlikely you have a cable to hydro conversion. Revving an LS to 8k rpm isnt smart either.

x2...deff a ls tranny

Ive driven a civic with a b16 swap and it was doing close to the 4500rpm range at 80mph. My gsr is at about 4100rpm at 80mph. I would think an LS would be somewhere in the 3600-3700rpm range.
are you serious?

..........sigh.........
put in the info for a ls tranny (ratios and FD) and your tire size, it'll tell you what mph and rpm you should be at if it was a ls tranny
then put in the info for a b16 tranny and your tires size, it'll tell you what mph and rpm you should be at if it was a b16 tranny
then compare the data with what your seeing and you'll find out what you have,

Wow alot of misinformed people here...
Ls cable tranny will have you around 3200rpm at about 80mph, a cable gsr tranny (also known as a ys1) will have you around 3750-4000rpm at 80(ish). If ls trannys were at 4000 rpm when at 80, then gas mileage would be horribly for stock integras and the ls 5th gear wouldn't be so popular about saving gas...
FYI, this is PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. Not what I have heard/read...I have driven stock ls motors with both trannys...
b16 tranny will have you at 4500rpm+ at 80mph...I think hydro b16 is a little higher...
