stick with the Ls tranny.
i had an Ls with all 3 trannies, Ls, Gsr and B16. the Gsr by far was the best. with the B16 tranny and 6,800rpm rev limit, your car will rev out too quick.

I have no idea what all of you are smoking....use the b16a tranny for sure. Why? Because with the short gearing its easy to adjust it for the size of tires. What a longer 5th? Put on a bigger slick. With a LS and big slicks you have such a huge 5th gear its just silly.
Almost all the fast ProAM guys run b16a...and its easier to drive around town with.

Depends on how you drive, hehe. If you like driving all fast and quick at each lite, then b16 all the way. But, if you are a daily driver and do a lot of freeway driving LS tranny is better on gas and lower revs while driving. In my opinion b16 is good for the quarter mile and LS is good for the freeway chases up at the top end. Depends on you bro, either one is good.

Re: LS+b16tranny+turbo= good or bad?????? (Mr.DC2TurBo)
I would use the LS tranny. The B16 tranny is setup with closer gearing to maximize the vtec and keep you in your power band. An LS with the longer gear ratios will maximize the power of the turbo and you will be in boost longer. i have an LS integra so I dont have a choice, but 3rd gear in my car is long and nasty with my turbo setup. Regardless of what you do, you will not save gas either way because the turbo and your right foot will use it all up

If this thing will be at the track at all, go w/ ls tranny or be prepared to have a tall *** tire!!The car will run out of gear w/ a b16 tranny...

use the tranny that belongs to that motor. Put the LS on if you don't mind pulling power away from your setup. LS is a lazy tranny with a vtec motor. Yeah you stay in each gear longer and shift less but at what trade off?, a lazy powerband. rpm is hp period. All the LS tranny is doing is just slowing down your rpms.

i would get yourself a GSR w/ Quaife Lsd ......
if the car is gonna be highway driven u could look into a LS 5th gear so u arent driven at such a high RPM while cruising on the highway.....
But all and all GSR is the best IMO...

I vote for LS first then GSR second, unless your building strictly drag.. The b16 and Type R tranny has really short gears. When boosting it's just uncomfortable unless your quick on the gears..

I cant speak for the turbo part, but a friend of mine has a full ls swap in his 94 cx with i/h/e and at our 1/8th track i consistenly pull him by .2-.3 tenths every race and all i have is i/e with just having a gsr tranny.

being in boost longer isn't making you faster...bottom line your going through the gear slower therefore accelerating slower. Your in boost longer in a 4th gear pull then a 2nd gear pull...does your car accelerate faster in 4th or 2nd?

i believe we're talking about a street car. B16 tranny + Boost for daily driving is annoying to say the least and thats not even considering the horrible gas milage that you're going to have.

i saw this on SCC magazine , a GS-R turbo with Type-R gearing 1-4, and LS 5th, good for quarter mile and highway, since the 1-4 of the type-r keep it on boost, and 5th for highway for longer gear
