Default Type R gearbox

I know this is pitiful, but it happened... redline 3rd gear to 2nd out on a track, and now the acura dealer is thinking if they will replace my gearbox and clutch... of course thats not the story they were told, but its all messed up. at least i know the motor can hold 11-12k rpms, the tach was pinned straight down way past that dreadful number 10 ive always stared down. heh. whoooooops.

Why does the engine over rev since it has the revlimiter??

rev limiter is eletronic. Can't stop the gears from turning the motor unless you put it in neutral.

rev limiter cuts off fuel..........on a downshift.......the revs are immediately higher (gearing)......fuel isn't used

I would say miss shifts are attributed mostly on the way people hold the shift **** when shifting. If you shift into 4th holding it like a joystick, chances are you will pull down and towards you. This is especially true if your shifting while turning.

Palm on the top of the shift ****, pull straight down...that's the proper way to shift from 3 to 4. Just my opinion.

My buddy who's a tech at a Acura dealer calls them "Type OverRev." It seems that just about every week there is new R in the shop that was overrevved.
