Default ls/gsr tranny

hi everyone new to the site not to honda's tho, had a quick question hopefully one of you guys can help me out. I have a 98 dx its got b18b1 swap, header, hi flow cat, tsudo n1 catback. Overall i am very satisfied with the performance of the car but i am looking for more pep without braking the bank. i can get a gsr transmission off a friend for dirt cheap and was wondering if anyone has had experience with a gsr tranny on their non vtec b18. Also i dont have enough money or time to do a ls/vtec or nitrous so dont mention it. any comments welcome.

if u want a lot of power from your ls, i suggest u get a b16 tranny. i use to own a b16 until i blew it up, i got a ls longblock and add my b16 tranny on, it was unexpected from the ls. way better than my b16. gsr tranny's alrite but not as good as b16 if ur gonna want power for ur ls.

i would love to get a b16 tranny but i cant find one for the same price i can get the gsr for, i know the ls and gsr have the same 1-3 gears and then the gsr has shorter 4-5 with the 4.40 finial drive. Im just wondering if that will that be a noticeable improvement over the stock ls.

In my opinion go ahead and do it. You will notice a difference with the shorter gears. Especially in third when all of the sudden its a lot shorter than before. But be prepared to sacrifice some fuel. You'll probably get less mpg when cruising on the highway because you'll be much higher in the rpm's than before. This is why i say don't go with a B16 tranny with an LS if you drive on the highway often. Cruising anywhere at 75mph with a B16 tranny on an LS and its ridiculous. I have a friend with this set up and he hates it. Hes waiting to put an LS 5th gear in it. With a GSR tranny its much more bearable and not really bad at all. Its a good way to get a little bit more performance out your car. Your in the perfect position to do it since your friend is selling you a GSR tranny for dirt cheap, don't pass up on that deal.

buy the gsr and trade for a b16. some people will trade b16 for gsr because of the gear ratios being too short for them to daily drive.

dirt cheap GSR trans I'm doing an LS swap in my 94 DX with a b16a3 trans and GSR rotating assembly..I'm kind of excited to see exactly how short the gears are going to be, but i hope that it doesn't suck lol.

I'll throw in another vote for grab it! I'm piecing together a B18b swap right now, and I've got the parts to run a GSR 1-4, LS 5th, GSR 4.4 FD, and OBD LSD in an LS case, I can't wait!
