The ITR tranny is shorter yet, in a boosted setup.. I would go with the GSR tranny and put a quaife LSD in there if you wish.

Kerr you know b16 trannies are better. I'd take my b16 tranny over a GSR tranny anyday other than cruising on the highway but who does that?!

S4C is the way to be!! Thats what I got (00' SI tranny), and I LOVE it!! And
the only "traction control" that Honda's ever SHOULD have sits right behind the steering
wheel.

The only problem is sometimes the B16 is too short for a boosted car in the 1/4 mile. Hence why the GSR is my vote.

Depends on the slick size and obviously how much power you have. Most stock motor street cars will be fine with the B16 tranny though.

I've trapped 122mph a few times on mine (staying in 4th gear) and revving to 9000 rpm.

Re: (GetawayInMoscow)
I had a boosted LS with a GSR tranny. Everyone and their mother reccomended that setup. I got it, and while on the streets it was fun, I did alot of highway. And it sucked ***. Hence the reason why I traded my GSR trans for a LS +cash for this new ls-v-t

Re: (swappedcx)
ive run ls trannys on boosted lsvtecs for like 2 years now. i used to like it. now that my car is making decent power up top, the ls trans is a little too long, bringing me into gear still lin the 5000 range when i should keep it well into the 6000 range for power. im going to a gsr with lsd in a few weeks, and am 100% confident the car will be much faster. and to make highway driving reasonable, im throwing the ls 5th in

If you are making any kind of power, the car will not be "slow" in any way....and it also depends on your turbo, if you have a turbo that fully spools by 5 grand, your car will not feel slow at all. I would trade my b16 tranny for an ls any day...not when i was all motor tho, but now that ill be making 350hp it will still be fast

Re: (AaronJ)
yeah aaron you are right. take me for instance though.
with my ls tranny i comem back into gear in the high 5000 to around 6000 range, where my car mamkes 325 or so whp. with a tighter trans i will be upshifting to around 6500 rpms or so where im making 375+ up to around 420. thats at least a 50 hp deficit that i wouldnt have to deal with using a gsr trans over the ls. my car makes 400hp at 7k rpms and holds it to my 8700 limiter.
i have my full boost of 17 psi by 5200 rpms, but the powerband of the motor just isnt down there in the rpms.
plus for dragging at the track, you want to pick a tranny that will put you through the traps at high into 4th gear as possible without shifting to 5th.

Re: ls/vtec turbo...LS transmission?? (89hatcher)
If you have a choice do not use the LS transmission. It's a dog. I have tuned plenty of cars with different transmission setups. I like the ITR and GSR gearing most

This statement is a bit extreme. There are alot of variables which determine whether this tranny really hurts that much or not.
It has alot to do with what turbo you have, and what your motor is capable of revving to reliably. If you can stretch the gear enough, the ls tranny doesn't hurt you that much.
Granted the GSR tranny is preferrable, but this statement is going to make people who are stuck using an LS tranny feel like they are gonna turbo their car and think it's a terd.
I've built cars with all different types of tranny's and while the tighter geared tranny's definitely keep the the thing more alive through the gears, the LS's don't kill you with certain combinations.
