Default Help Please. I did search

I have a built d16z6 that is turbo on about 10 psi. It has a OEM crank, Scat rods, ACL bearings, Vitra Pistons, Supertech valve train(Springs, retainers, valves), ZEX cam, stock cam gear.It started off the 1st time as breaking the timing belt at idle, so we replaced the timing belt, than after about 200 miles it broke the dam lil key thing on the cam gear that holds it in place on the cam. So we put a new cam gear on it and it did the same 10 miles down the road. Havnt even got to get on it Anybody know what the problem could be? We're lost. Please help.

Was that belt brand new when it first broke? Assuming it wasn't and it broke cuz it was old, was everything in the head torqued to spec? and how about the that cam gear bolt?

Everything was torqued to spec yes. I just dont understand how it could break 2 cam gears like that and the 1st belt was new yes.

Sorry, not sure what may be the problem but are you saying that is sheered the cam key? or it broke the gear itself? When you installed the timing belt are you rotating it by hand a couple of times to get the tension right before torqueing the bolts down?

Yes it sheared the cam key twice, the belt broke once. whenever i pulled the cam out today the two center cam journals where a lil scared up, what could be causing this? Any1 else had problems witht he zex/comp cam before?

Just an Idea but maybe the cam isn't installed correctly and is blocked from rotating? I wouldn't think the Crank turning would be enough to shear the key but....
