my cluster doesnt work for the mph and mileage
I had the same problem. When I first did the swap on my car I had also installed a SI cluster. It worked fine for a couple of days and then all of the sudden, it didn't work. Checked the connection at the cluster and that was fine and checked the speed sensor, that was good too. It ended up being one of the wires in the speed sensor connector was coming loose and the contact of the terminals wasn't the best. Check all of the connections.
Location of VSS is when your looking from the battery side look down where the tranny is. there is a black sensor with a harness plug cliped on it. has 2 bolts looks sort of tall.

i am 100% sure its your speed sensor...why, because i had the same problem and got a new sensor that it... endo disscusion
If you have a vtec motor and vtec is working its not the speed sensor, its in the wiring of the gauge cluster. But if your vtec isnt engaging then its time for a new speed sensor. Also double check all fuses.
either go to a junk yard and swap out the gauge cluster, or the VSS my `93 when i bought it the mph and odo didnt work either and i swapped in my 4dr LX's gauge cluster and it worked fine, and i had the added bonus of a tach when i swapped. if that doesnt work then VSS.
ok here it goes, i took out the sensor and clean the f**k out of it yet the cluster isnt working on the mph and mileage. i just bought this car btw. and when i look under the steering while i found a disconnected plug and a bundle of wires. what should i do? should i get a new speed sensor or check the wires. and if i do the wires. what should i do with them?
