knock sensor and egine check light B16a and P30 ECU on my civic ??
Anyone know why the second gen B16a dosent have a Knock sensor? My mechanic told me that only a few came with it and that unfortunatley mine didnt. im trying to B.A.R.D my car and know this will be an issue. I have a 94 civic Ex with a B16 motor and a P30 ECU. can I use the P28 inorder to resolve the proble? HELP ANYONE????????
second generation b16a does have knock sensor. i had the same CEL with p30 ecu, easy way to get rid of knock sensor is bypass it or get a chipped p28 ecu which is what i do.
u need to get p28 ecu chipped because b16a engine has higher compression ratio and different fuel/air ratio than d16z6.

Bad info!
You need a legit p30 to pass emissions. The bar rep will check ur ecu and even run the code with the dealer so dont even bother changing labels or anything like that it wont work. You need to get a knock sensor, install it, and wire it up. The sensor is like 60 bucks or something and it just screws into the back of the block. Search around you will find writup on this.

I like that you idea of hooking up your B16 with CTR cams. How do they pull ? thats my next upgrade. You think i should get the Intake came or both ?
I been doing research on Knock Sensors and they all seem prity basic to me. It looks like all you need to do is screw it on. My question is, dose the Knock Sensor need any wiring involved or am I right, all I need to do is screw it to the head or (.........) any place it gose? Let me know please. There's a guy that's selling me one for $40. Also How do I know if it's in working conditions by observing how it looks befor I pay up?

Basically yes you can put it almost anywhere. But there is a factory cast for the sensor underneath the intake mani between runners 2 and 3 and you just have to tap it out and thread the sensor in. Then run a wire to the correct pinout on your ecu.

I am kind of stuck as I have a car I'm working on that someone did an ls block on a 97 GSR and never tapped the block for a knock sensor, along with other things. So my question, I'm an acura tech so I have limitless resources but can't figure it. You can't chip the obd2 ecu's to ignore the knock sensor? How would you bypass it? Is there an accesible spot that I could put it with the engine in the car? or should I pull the intake or the whole motor and tap it properly, it codes right away(after you hit around 3k rpm while driving) with a sensor just plugged in a zipp tied to the harness... thanks
Theres only 2 ways to do it. The right way and the other way. right way is tap the block and screw the sensor in. The other way is to remove the sensor and get a chipped obd1 and do conversion harness. I have run both setups and they both work but its nice knowing you got a knock sensor in incase you get some bad gas or something and its knocking but you cant hear it. obd2 you have to run knock...
