**How To: SEARCH**
I did a little search on here and it doesn't appear that anyone has explained how to find information here on Honda-Tech. Well here is a little guide to using it.
Honda-tech has been around since 1999. Our database is HUGE. Most of the questions that are asked around here can be found in the SEARCH if and only if you understand how to use it.
We have two areas of search. RECENT threads and ARCHIVED threads. Searching in recent threads limits how far back in time you can go to find a topic. If you cannot find what you need here after searching recent threads by topic titles and post bodies then search in the archived threads using the same technique: topic titles and post bodies.
Now, you may come to the point to where you really don't know what to type in that little area called "search for". For example, you are looking to remove your AC and you want to know anything associated with taking it out and the belt size required to do so.
so you type in "AC removal" for recent threads through topic titles.
this pulls up the following threads related to its removal (remember that it will pull up threads that have nothing to do with ac removal):
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2211254
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2181273
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2133237
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2131886
already, these threads answered just about everything you would possibly need to know about removing it and that was with ONE search title. how about "removing ac" or "taking out AC" "removing a/c" etc. Your goal here is to mock the titles of what someone would use to create a new thread. If you spell it wrong, nothing will show up unless the thread creator spelled it wrong as well.
You use the same technique for archived threads as you do for recent threads, but the archives will likely pull up many many more threads.
How long has this taken so far? about 2-3 minutes?
How long does it take to create a thread and wait for someone to provide you with answers? who knows......
whats my point? searching works. I have found that people who say they can't find the answers simply just didn't try hard enough and would rather depend on other people to provide them with answers (lazy) then others who just didn't try at all and its very obvious.
So how do you search for general information to advance your own knowledge? This is where the fun begins. Think about it for a second. If you have been around here for a little bit, you can likely tell the difference between people who have experience and people who don't. When you find someone who repeatedly answers questions professionally and accurately, SEARCH for this person. Search for threads created by them. Click on their user name and click "watched topics". It's very likely you will find some cool stuff to keep your mind occupied for a little while. Find something cool? EXPAND IT. Search for it on google, wikipedia....etc. Find other opinions on the topic so you arent just basing "fact" on one persons post.

i hope this helps people out a little.

Actually speaking the search engine is not so OK as it seems to be...
Just take a look at this:
once upon a time I created the thread when I was in trouble:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1452362
After one day it dissappeared and I was asking about that here:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1453207
And now trying to search it today I get nothing...

Search results end on 2006 and that's it. No my thread however.
So life isn't pink enough yet

I've spent days just searching crap. You'd be amazed what you'd find.
Obscure hints and secrets here and there too... not mind blowing, but quite revealing in the competitive Honda world.

Great thread! I think it's long overdue. At one point just after joining I had searched for a 'how to search' thread, but found nothing and eventually figured it out. I vote for a sticky as well.
