half-baked question- how to change a high level output to low level
ok heres the deal, ive got some un-powered polk audio speakers and a pair of powered speakers that i want to use on myt computer at the same time
thing is on my computer, ive got a powered output originally meant for the polk's, and the normal line-level line-out that i guess is for if you have powered speakers
since i would only get sound to the powered speakers if i use the line-out, i am using the powered output for both sets of speakers at the same time using a splitter,
its pretty ghettofied but sounds pretty decent nonetheless

I'm not sure I understand your problem.
Your computer has two outputs
1) powered
2) low level
So why not hook the powered output to the non-powered speakers and the low level to the powered speaker.

that would be perfect if that actually worked, but it cuts off signal to the powered output whenever it detects something plugged into the low-level output
