Theft recovery - what do I do with the car now?! eBay? Salvage Yard? Ideas???
Hey all, just looking for some advice here.....
I have a '94 4-door GSR that was stolen and has been recovered. I only had liability insurance on it (LESSON LEARNED!) and now its sitting in an impound lot after being found stripped.
My question is: What the heck should I do with it now?! I need to get it out of the impound and I just want to get a decent value for whats left. I would rather not part it out, as it's pretty much just a shell as you can imagine. eBay? Try and sell it to a salvage yard? Metal recycler?! Ideas anyone???
Thanks in advance!

Do what every motorhead would. Rebuild it. Alarm it. Hook up some kill switches.

They snagged the motor / tranny / dash / radio / ecu / etc.
The shell is pretty much intact - hood / doors / deck lid / f&r bumpers / wheels ok
The front and rear seats are still there as well, althought they were pretty rough already.

This car was great as a daily driver while I had it, but it's been replaced now and I just dont have the time to rebuild it. I'm just trying to see what my best options are to get some value out of it at this point.

I've got a GSR and only liability..honestly its not worth upgrading to comprehensive. I was quoted 2k a year for that, as opposed to 700 bucks on liability...besides, even if your car wasn't recovered, they wouldn't give you too much for it, especially for a 94..check out kbb.org and fill in your car specs.
If you really want to maximize how much you get, you could post up individual parts (nuts, bolts, trim pieces etc.) on eBay. There's someone out there that needs something. If you still have the rear exterior door handles you could probably get like $50-75 for some 2DR guy that wants the key less look. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about that but i think u should find a local salvage yard and ask them how much they'l give u. without a motor i dont think they'l give u more than 200 and a metal recycling will probably only give u like 100 but thats jus my non knowledgeable mind jus wat i think. i think if u cant get more then 500 for it. then part out wat u can u may make like 600 from selling random **** then get a metal recycling to give u 100 for wats left. and a 3rd option whitch i think would b great put the shel for sale at 1000 obo u may get like 800 out if it maybe more
sell the shell as is. Some "motor head" will buy it. Where do u live i might buy it lol. For that person that said don't rebuild b/c it is a 94? not sure why b/c it is old. I rather build it back up the way i want it. The 98 and up you can all was change the front and back bumper.
**** if you were in florida, id probably buy it as a shell
im looking for a cheap rolling shell anyways

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
Sell the shell. I'm sure you could get about $1k for a roller shell in good shape.
Then move on. Cut your losses, I guess.
Selling the shell takes less time than parting it out + less work. May be about the same amount of return.
