My buddy just got his type r cams, cam gears, and valvetrain, type r intake manifold, type r throttle body, and the jdm itr ecu. Hes got a 96 gsr motor. Were planning on putting it in but, will this setup work? Also, will he need a tune for this, or will he be able to drive it as is? Its almost like getting a type r head isnt it? or am i just completely wrong? .. anyways, any help would be appreciated.

why would the IM not work? Also, with this setup, would he require a tune? Or could he just run on this setupd without getting one?

 

An IM designed for a PR3 head (ITR, CTR, B16A, B17) will not fit a P72 (B18C1)head. The cam gears and exhaust valves are the same as the GSR.

For the IM, you can get a Skunk2 or Blox, which are similar to the ITR IM.

 

tuning is good & recommended.
but not necessary.
