Only auto B16's came with oil coolers (Japan land only)...at least to the best of my knowledge.

It is an easy item to swap between B-series blocks. Could have been installed by a third party.

This ALWAYS seems to fire up an arguement. The 94-95 GSR's had them as well. The B16's had them, the Civic VX had one, some Accords, some H22's and my 99 Si as well as a few of my friends 99-00 Si's had them also. Don't go telling me someone added it to my Si either. I bought the car right off the car carrier from Honda with 4 miles on it.

My 98 Spec B18C(R) has it.

It's a heat exchanger. Coolant passes through there so it'll help warm up the oil quicker during start up and help it cool when the engine is hotter then the coolant.

Don't know what to tell you. Mine was a 99. I bought it when they first came out. It came right off the car carrier... wasn't even on the lot until the end of our negotiations. It had 4 miles on it when I got it, no one ever touched it. I could dig up pictures from back in the day, but its not worth the effort simply to "prove" something like that. Some of them had them, some did not.

oil coolers came on all jdm 1st and 2nd gen B16's, not to sure bout here in the states, im almost positive the Del sol b16 had it so i would assume the EM1 si had them also. 94-95 gsr's and all Type R models had oil coolers.

select D-series had them too but not sure exactly which models.
older H-series had them, but never noticed any on SH model preludes.

This could be the case, but according to Honda, your car does not have one listed under the parts index.

'97 ITR:

'99/00 SI:

'94/'95 Del Sol VTEC

After doing some part number research, the '92/'93 GSR also came with an oil cooler, even thought it was a B16 block.

all model h22's have oil coolers. Fairly certain that the h23 and f20c have oil coolers as well.

all jdm b series vtec motors had them

thay got cheep here is the usa after 1995 they pull them off the b16 and gsr's. so 96+ usdm gsr's and b16's did not have them

bty the stock oil coller is really nothing special and it really does not do much at all at colling the oil at all. any after market front mounted oil cooler will cool the oil 100x better than the pos stock oil cooler.
