Default oil leak???

ill try to post up some pics later.

but on the right side of the block (around where the ps pump is) and below the head, the whole block was covered in oil...i was thinking it might have been the crank seal and i dont think that it's a head gasket....but i have somehow been leaking oil...i checked my dipstick today and it was bone dry (yes, i was scared)

any ideas about where this could be leaking?

oil is all over the PS pump side (right side if looking from the front) and it is all over that side of the oil pan too....

thanks in advance,

jason

sounds like a crank seal to me. i had the same problem after i completed my swap... it got squished and folded over somehow. a valve cover gasket would have oil all over the side of the head as well.

yeah, i thought it may be the crank seal...

since it leaks somewhere close to the crank pulley and it catches on to the belt and gets flung all over the underside of my hood.

sorry about the noob question, but is there a gasket between the oil pump and the block?

there is no oil pump gasket just the seal. i am pretty positive it is your crank seal. jack it up and look and if there is oil in your pulley then its that seal.

the only other thing it might be is the VC gasket where it goes over the cams leaking down.
