Building a Type R Motor NEED HELP w/ what pistons to use w/ nitrous
I have a type r motor i have been building and im not sure what parts to use.
so far i have a fully built head by REV. Its shaved 7 thousandths. the cams im using are Stage 2 Skunk 2 cams. Now the problem i am having is if i put very high compression pistons are the valves going to hit the pistons. i want to put je 12.5:1 pistons but they dont make them for a type r motor but they make them for b16's and gsr's. i would need to have them specially made the guy told me. the highest compression for the type r motor that they sell is the 11.7:1 so if i bought these pistons am i going to run into any problems.. i plan on spraying a wet kit of 150 shot..

there is no specific type r forged piston. if you plan on that big of a shot i would go no higher than 11.0:1 maybee more like 10.5:1 ish., unless u plan on race gas. but then i have limited experience with nitrous, back in 03 i had a 90 shot on a bone stock dx ek hatch before i did the swap, lol.. just my .02 cents
Domed pistons and nitrous don't work well together. I'm not saying nitrous doesnt like compression because the two work well together. You just need the flatest piston face that is feasible.I would do Arias( due to their low expansion design) 10.5:1 flat tops, mugen or similar head gasket and flat faced valves. Thats should bring you pretty close to 11.3-11.5:1 Should make good power on motor and scream on the nitrous.
Come to think of it. You would probably need to do a seperate fuel system for that size shot. Just to be on the safe side, I would fill the seperate system with some 109-116 fuel.
usdm type r pistons are already 10.5:1.. i dont really care about the nitrous part because ill run race gas when i spray but my main concern is the piston hitting the valves with a very high dome like above 11.7:1 and stage to skunk 2 cams
Let me ask you this.....WHY do you want a compression level that high? Why do you NEED to spray a 150hp shot?

thats a really stupid question!! im building a motor to race the **** out of it im trying to find out my limits!

hold on let get the popcorn before you guys start! ,lol. i must say nitrous and honda's are pretty unchartered waters. you never see or hear of any nitrous cars. nitrous just scares me for some reason, wierd

who cares why he wants a high compression motor! and why he wants to spray
Thats like asking why do guys like girls with big ****!!

i would like to know more about this too, hopefully cubish can put his .02 cents in. my friend is thinking on a build with 12.5 compression and 150 shot on c16 gas
use stock pistons just dont boost that much. if he makes it for gsr the then the r block is the same all is differant is the crank.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find that out real soon..

Look in my sig....I run nitrous and drive a honda. I know lots of people that do.

I was about to try and help him but it's obvious that he, as well as you and maybe others are more interested in big **** and eventual fireworks, than a well rounded package or a motor that not only makes great power but stays together too.

For any of you that think hondas and nitrous are uncharted water, maybe you should talk to H-T member "nitrousballa" or maybe "GhostOfNyc. They will tell you just how uncharted it is.
not here to judge on what you are doin. but correct me if im wrong, but couldnt you just get some pistons for the b16 with that compression? i mean the head is the same design as the type r as far as the combustion chamber right?
actually you would get more feedback if you posted in the FI forum. this is the all motor forum...
and i've sprayed 100 shot direct port on a stock LS block with no problems. tuned correctly nitrous is a great power adder.
people are just scared of it. they hear stories and believe everything they hear..
