Default Question about engine light/ cold air intake???

I recently bought a cold air intake for my 03 civic ex. I had a friend put it on and when i turned on my car the check engine light came on? Ive been driving it for 3 weeks now and it still hasn't turned off. We checked everything and nothing seems to be wrong. Can anybody help me with this problem?

I'm willing to guess the IAT sensor wasn't re-located to the new intake.

the kind of hose you use does matter....

and some people think any hose will do

usually when you purchase an intake, theyll include a 5/8 fuel line and thatll do...

thats why i asked what brand intake he bought

You have to get a new one bc its a bad sensor. it probably happen when u put the intake on. or check to make sure the sensor is tight. IAT means Intake Air Temperature.

you can buy stuff off ebay but you should really avoid the cheap stuff.

Your car wasn't cheap so why buy cheap crap for it?

I have an AEM short ram intake and have not had any problem with it what so ever. No check engine light or nothing like that. Probably the only thing that may happen is that the engine will get a weird amount of fuel because the sensor is going to tell the computer how much gas to apply (im assuming it works with the other sensors like the O2) but it should be ok but wouldn't push my luck.

The sensor has gone bad on ur intake. replacing it is ur best bet. and if u want something nice get an injen short ram. make sure that when u buy stuff off ebay that u research the product and that its a "name brand" product or has test results to prove it is decent.

The IAT is buried on the plenum. It's very easy to miss.

And, the "hose" being overlooked, wouldn't cause a CEL.

imo the name brand intakes are a waste of money. the tubing off an ebay intake will work just fine. just replace the filter to a high quality one and you'll be fine.

eBay intakes are fine, just dont keep the filter, get a better filter.

I think you are partly correct, but I would rather buy a C.A.R.B. legal intake living here in Cali because cops always seem to give people stupid intake and muffler tickets.
