I was following the "axle removal tutorial" in the FAQ. The left side went out fine, but on the right.. I just can't break the ball joint loose to move lower control arm out of the way. It feels like it just isn't going to budge. Any advice?
did you try banging at the lower control arm with a big hammer? that's the best way i have found...
but actually when i change axles, i dont remove the ball joint from the lower control arm. I remove the lower control arm from the chassis (including taking it off the radius rod and stabilizer bar).

I had a smaller hammer, and then I found a small sledge hammer. But neither of them seemed to do the trick. I thought about removing the whole LCA, but I guess that's my only option now.
Thanks guys-
Thanks guys-
when i did my tranny seals this weekend i ran into the same problem....but usually being patient and cust contantly hitting the lca with a hammer works...but in this case what i did was i took my alligator jack and a piece of wood put it under the brake disc and jacked it up to put pressure...not high..just enough to have the disc raise up a bit..and smacked it for every possible angle with a hammer...it came out...i dont recommend doing this....but this was my last resort and i had tried the traditional way for 1 1/2 hours with no success on the driver side...the pass side came in like 10 seconds....
