You don't need any special tools. You just remove the retaining circlip and beat it out of the knuckle with a hammer.

a Snap Ring Plier will be more like it. It can be purchased anywhere, literally. (autozone, hf, snapon, napa, etc)

But yea, a hammer will work Out and In..

i had the same problem w/ the balljoints. i recommend taking out the knuckle cause it will be easier, trust me i just went through it last week. u can use a regualr plier for the clip if your not going to use the clip anymore but i recommend getting a new one. as for pressing it back it back in, it will be a bitch so just take it to a shop to have them press it in makes everything easier. hope this helps.

Using an air hammer makes it 10 times easier. When putting it back in, use a large socket to spread the force out, so you don't damage the new part.

When you guys put in the new ball joint, did you guys use a big socket and hammered it in from the top also or did you guys have to rent a ball joint press?

If the knuckle is off the car, I just press in the joint with a socket and a bench vise.

If the knuckle is on the car, I beat it in with a hammer. You might be able to use a big C-clamp as well.
