ok i have it loose and out of the control arm and i have the axle off, but i want to REMOVE the ball joint completly....ive been banging on it for an hr now and nothing. HELP!!!

I assume this is the lower balljoint. Have you tried heating the knuckle? (Protect the brake and ABS lines, etc.)

 

yes lower ball joint, i have nothing to heat it with though

 

cant get ball joint out!!!! have heated it an everythinga nd nothing!

 

Depending on where you heat it, it will cause the greese inside to expand and will explode the ball joint apart with enough force to break open your skull, or seriously wound anyone it makes contact with.

 

Did you remove the C-clip?

There is a special tool to get that out.
you have to go to a shop and talk to them

 

way i take them out is spray wd-40 on everyting around it and then banging it on the side of the cast iron where the ball joint. DO NOT HIT THE TREAD OF THE BALL JOINT THO. i means beat the **** out of this iron and it pops out....also helps if you have someone lifting up and down on the hub itself

 

i got mine out by going to autozone. they have a free rental program there, well actually u gotta pay but u get all ur money back when u return the tool. its basically a big *** C-clamp. either that or bang the hell out of it.
