I've always made these out of old screwdrivers, but after getting tired of pounding away underneath I made one for an airhammer. Now I have a machinist that is going to make me one out of new stock versus a modded chisel.

The "bitch" pin, is the pin that holds the shift linkage to the tranny for those that aren't familiar. It basically presses itself in the hole in the linkage and can be a ***** to remove, especially on a car that's never been taken apart. What ends up happening is you pound and pound on it with a screwdriver for hours. With this tool an air hammer extracts them in seconds...will even shoot them to the ceiling if you don't watch... . It turns it from the bitch pin to the love pin.

Cost would probably be low, cause it's not really complicated. I know anyone can make them of course, but sometimes having a nice tool for the tool box versus something crude is nice...especially if it's fairly cheap.

mild steel? high carbon? i've never had to fight a bitch pin before so i dont really know what its like but I am a machinist and my guess is with an air chisel it wouldnt last long if made out of mild.

I've made them out of ground down chisels, they last indefinitely. They are not under a large amount of abuse when used.

If you've never fought a bitch pin, then you've not done many cars. When those pins are in the car for 15-20 years...they don't come out easy.

 

i'd pick one up. depending on the cost. any estimate on how much? and when these would be available?

 

That Bit he has in the pic in the middle, gets it out 3/4 of the way the way it is, then you need a little tap and its out

I don't know how your comin up with that honestly. The piece is fully defined in a drawing based off of the dimension of the pin that I sent to the machinist. It'll push the pin out fully with .100" to spare. The tip also allows it to be reloaded and driven in entirely.

I'd probably think like 13-15 bucks would be good.

Don't know if any of you know this but snap-on already makes this tool your talking about. It goes into an air hammer and is the same size as the drift pin. It will also go all the way through. It works a hell of alot better then the one you hit with a hammer (I have both).

Good idea, but not worth it. I wouldn't buy. I get my bitch pins out with the pointy one that comes with the gun. Comes out everytime!

dude, grab a punch, grab an air hammer, hold the punch to the pin, and dont hammer your hand. easy as that. lol ive never found the need for anything more...although if i was feeling frisky i might get one off of the truck...

i have boken the step off of it once but it still worked until tuesday when the matco guy came and replaced it.
