Default axelback vs. catback

what are the differences?.. is it that one eliminates the cat and the other doesnt?

catback is self explanatory... you get the piping from your cat to the muffler (midpipe, resonator, axleback, muffler) while the axle back is only the rear section and the muffler bolted on to your orignal stock piping... with both you still have your cat... for example, the hks rear axle back vs. an apexi n1 full catback exhaust. theres a reason why one cost more than the other

what do you mean by rear section? and how is the muffler bolted onto the stock piping if your getting a rear section?

Neither eliminate the catalytic converter. The terminology is actually quite simple to understand.

Catback - From the catalytic convert back to the exit at the bumper.
Axleback - From the rear axle (in this case, more likely the trailing arms) back to the exit at the bumper.

Crawl under your car, and you'd pretty much figure out what pieces are replaced.

I know what the physical difference is between the two, but is there a general difference in the performance (not like there's much to begin with), the sound, or the fitment?

With a D17, there's near negligable power increases from an entire exhaust system. Bolt-on's really don't provide the car with anything more than your typical noise changes. You'd be lucky to see 5whp after a full catback.

As far as sound and fitment, it all depends on the make/model of the exhaust.

in general a catback exhaust gains more power than an axleback.

With the D17 this remains true however the power gains are minimal.

a catback would technically give you better performance, but if youre gonna go that route, you might as well get like a header, hiflow cat and piping for better performance, slapping on a cat back would help but its still somewhat restricted from the header out... just my 2 cents

None of that would really make a difference.

^^ Agreed that **** aint right. if my girl or even my ex was buying suspension the least you could do is get her a decent catback brand name. Suspension is not cheap if doing it right. 450 catback or 1000 dollar suspension hmmm... i dont think she should be buying your suspension for you though. Every part on my car was paid for by my money... i wouldnt let anyone buy stuff for my car.

you trying to trick her on her front lip and hids as well? getting her some HID style bulbs and a cardboard front lip spray painted?

So now all of a sudden ur buying her more stuff....it doen'st matter man. look at how you stated things in the beginning. if you seriously don't see anything wrong with your post...then you have some problems.

don't cry about school loans...if you're tight on money, you shouldn't be fixing up your car in the first place. Spend your money on more important things. I'm ok with you buying her a axle back or even just a muffler, but you want to TRICK your girl..that's fuked up.

be a man and own up.

Don't post stupid **** about tricking another female ever again. people like you disgust me

apparently YOU KNOW that ur first post was messed up, thats why you deleted it didn't you? haha...yeah you know we were right. just own up and be a man.
