Default OBD I vs II coding as it relates to datalogging

Just about every Honda tuning system runs on an OBDI computer. And just about all of them offer datalogging via the 4-pin connector on the board. Recently there has been an influx of products to the market designed to log/display any/all info available over the OBDII port of newer cars. I am curious if anyone can describe for me the differences between the two protocols as they relate to datalogging. I would like to use one of the OBDII solutions available to read info off of my OBDI ECU. How far-fetched is this idea? Is the data stream the same? Would it be possible to cut/splice wires?

Hi,

Im not sure if i can really answer your question although im a bit of a wire head here,

you can buy an obd1 data logging cable infact make one as the protocol is pretty well known.

they offer obd2 cables also that datalog into a serial/usb port and allow you to use some open source software to read... as for the protocall i think they are both semi high speed serial.

hell email me if youd like or message me on aim
likwidchz send me a private message and ill give you my email address.. courious about your findings id actually like to know as well.
