So today I changed my tranny fluid (RP syncromax, good **** so far) and went to change my diff. Well the stupid *** drain bolt is partly stripped. I can't seem to get a good bite on the bolt. Any suggestions??? TIA

Here is a pic of the bolt.... It isn't all the way stripped but when I got up close to it, it looked like someone used a bootleg socket.



Sorry about the bad quality, the car is off the jackstands now and that was the best I could do with the car on the ground. Please help a brotha out... lol

 

you should still be good as long as you use METRIC SOCKETS. dont use those adjustable wrenches or american readings. Plus, that nut doesnt look too bad. if your socket wont fit, hammer it in(it will straighten the stripped bolt)

Dude... I am not that damn dumb. That is all I pretty much have is Metric. But I will try the hammer trick and see how it works.

 

get a new bolt?

why are you insulting people trying to help you out? If you knew everything allready what's the point of the post?

You know what size socket you need. Use a 6pt. socket (DUHHHH THAT'S OB-OB-OBVIOUS). So just go out and try it. There's not many suggestions here.

You use a wrench with a socket. Then you turn the wrench to the left. That's really the only suggestion.

 

Get a new bolt before you try to remove that one. You may strip it worse trying to get it out and then can't tighten it...

get a new bolt from honda, find the right socket, remove the bolt and replace it with the new one.

if the bolt gets stripped to the point that you can't use the right socket, then you can hammer a smaller one and remove it. if that doesn't help you can try to patiently chisel the bolt loose.

if that doesn't do it then i would use my "mini-ductor" tool to heat up the bolt and then get it loose. i would use that tool only and not the flames from a set of torches since i don't wanna heat the diff housing much...

just a couple of example smarty pants!!!

it looks like you ahd the socket on crooked. put a socket on there and put your hand behind it to push the wrench onto the bolt as you turn it. all esle fails you are gonna have to use a bolt extractor biger than god. but a new bolt from honda.

and stop being an ******* or wer are all just going to tell you to use a drill and dont replace the oil
