Hi guys im new here and im thinking of buying a 93 eg i havent seen the car in person but i belive its an dx, now i know that the si came with a d16z6 (correct me if im wrong) which was vtec and to my knowledge none of the other models came with a vtec motor, So in the ad the guy says that its been upgraded to a vtec motor but he also says its a 1.5 L,So my question is was there any d15s out there that are vtec?,or did the guy just swap a vtec head onto the d15?

he probably swapped in the JDM D15b motor which has vtec

 

hmm well i dont think he'd sell it so cheap if it was swaped and whats the hp gain on that swap is it even worth it?

the D15b is a JDM motor with the 3 stage vtec, and there a dime a dozen

 

Probot is reffering to a JDM D15 that is indeed VTEC, but for some reason it's not on that list you posted.

It also could be a VX motor.

127hp at the crank...its the same as the d16z6 and d16y8 - if you build the head and install a turbo kit and tune you can get like 220whp reliably with that motor..people do it all the time.

edit : also in that thread it says that the d17a2 is vtec-e which is incorrect
the a2 is only availible on the ex models and vtec-e was only in the motors in the hx models
