Default Why am i throwing a code 6?

I'm throwing a code 6 which is for the engine coolant temperature sensor in my h22 prelude. I swapped the sensor out with a known working one and no luck. I reset my ecu a couple diff ways (taking out clock/radio fuse and disconnecting battery) but still no luck. The sensor i replaced is the one right by the thermostat. Thats the correct one, right? Or is there another one...?

the one by the thermostat is a switch for the rad fan. The one you want is under the distributor.

yea the one on the thermostat housing is the fan switch. The coolant temp sensor is on the side of the head. First off i would make sure the sensor is plugged in and visually looks ok. You can actually check it by measuring the resistance of the sensor at different temperatures. Im not sure if its in the helms or not i found the values on alldata. If the numbers dont relate then theres your problem. I dont if you have access to one but it can also be seen through a scan tool. Most of those types of sensors lower in resistance as tempature increases, a negative coefficent sensor.

I would imagine the problem could always lay in the wiring but the sensor is def a more common and more likely the problem.
