Default oil pan gasket

Is sealer (i.e. Hondabond) needed when changing oil pan gasket on a d16? I've searched. Some said use it and other said no. thank you

its your call. some cake it on, others don't use any. I put little dabs of it in the corners where the pan gasket angles around the crank, similar to how you put it on the angles of a valvecover gasket.

I'm not a fan of the "caking" method either. I had a few cars come into the shop that had the treatment and they were a total *****.

Nice tip on the WD-40! it is duely noted.

Not sure about d-series, but my honda dealership recommended "ultraflange 2" to seal the pan on my h22 (NOT hondabond). I'm at 140k and losing oil around the pan, so I expect it to do some good (as well as replacing the little rubber gasket) when I re-seal it. The tube of stuff I think was around $8 from the parts dept.

I dabbed Permatex Ultra Grey into the four crank-corners, just like on the valve cover.
