Default Sealing up oil pan gasket

I didn't want to spend the 20 bucks on hondabond. Do any of you use any type of sealant along with the oil pan gasket? Wondering if i should just put the pan on with the gasket or put the black rtv sealant with it. Thanks

Dude I live in St. Paul and I have some Hondabond in my trunk you can use. You don't want oil leaks on your turbo setup, I finally don't have any thanks to it.

Hmm.....$20 or all of your oil leaking out and toasting a bearing? Anyone who tries to charge $20 for Hondabond should be kicked in the nuts anyways.

i have used some permatex copper gasket maker on a buddies car, still seals great....most of the time oil pan gasket leak...it's because of improper or over-torquing.

Permatex Ultra Grey is pretty much Hondabond. At our dealership that's all we use, we don't use "hondabond"

$20?...was it coming in a gallon jug? A tube is around $6-$7 here. I would definately use Honda bond in the corners of the pan (and VC)
