Would a bad thermostat cause cold temps?
Hi! I have my car running now after completing the MPFI swap which is awesome but one thing. The car runs cold all the time. It never gets above 1/4 temp and on the highway it sits right at the bottom of the gauge. Thats ok in the summer but its -15 degrees here right now and I have NO HEAT!! Would a bad thermostat be the cause of this problem?
If it is stuck open and you have low ambient temps like you are describing, it is possible. The antifreeze/water never have time to warm up inside the engine.
It's only like $15 so I'll just go ahead and replace it. What is the benefit of a higher temp thermostat like a 195 instead of a 180?
