Default this is going to sound dumb but...(hondata question)

my motor was finally rebuilt and when it was started for the first time, idled ok, but when we hit the gas, it died. everything was checked, all hoses, wires, everything seemed fine. so in a final desparate move, we pulled the ecu and put in a sohc ecu. everything went back to normal, idle great, smooth when on the gas.

the guy that did the engine is saying the hondata unit took a crap. i have no idea how that is even possible, everything was the same as it was before. now here is where my question gets really dumb...on the harness from the ecu to the hondata unit, the black wire is unplugged from the rest of the harness where it plugs into the hondata...could that be the only problem? its an s200 with a p72.

the builder is urging me to just dump the hondata and go with ectune and a p06. i dunno, it seems strange that all of a sudden the car wont run right with the hondata running and now that im looking at the harness, im thinking thats the problem, what do you guys think.

Do you have a picture of the harness? I think I know what you're talking about, but I'm a little fuzzy in trying to visualize it. In the mean time...yea Hondata can die on you, but that's doesn't usually happen a lot. Also, if you have Hondata then there is no reason to switch and pay more money for something that will get the job done was working correctly.

no pic, its the little harness with 4 wires, the black one is pulled out of it(im guessing thats the ground).

yeah, im just gonna assume thats the problem. any idea if i can solder it back into the 4 pin harness or if i can just order a new cord from somewhere?

You'll need a new interface cable. They are $15 from any Hondata dealer.
