auto x w/out headrests.
can you? i apologize if i ask too many questions about this and that. i don't have a scca rulebook yet, and i hate looking things up online. so i feel that the best way to get the most informative answers, is from you guys. TAIA!
I'm going to say yes. Is the stock rules it allows you to remove anything that is not fasened down by the factory (i.e. floor mats, spare wheel, service manual...) and the head rests, I would guess, are okay to remove, but...
WHY would you remove them????
First you wanted to remove wipers, now head rests. You're looking to save weight in all the wrong places. What's next, ash trays, fuse covers, gas caps, dome light bulbs?

yeah, i bought my car without headrests. i know it seems that i'm asking all these stupid questions about missing things. but my car sort of came like that. it was a theft recovery so they replaced the dash and apparently not the headrests. i have a four door steering column [ i know it's from a DB8 because i don't have an option for the rear wiper where it's supposed to be] it was def. a fixer-upper...
If it's missing a bunch of stuff head down to your local junk yard and or pick-n-pull and get all that stuff.
It would seem like common sence to me to get some headrests even if you weren't autocrossing just in case someone rear ends you at a stop light or something.

as i've said before, i tried the junkyard!!!!!!!! and don';t you guys think that i've thought about whiplash and all the other downfalls to a missing headrest??? geez, give me a break, i said it was a 'fixer-upper'!!!
dude, is anyone reading my responses??? no one will sell me just headrests! i have to buy the whole damn seat. i don't have 400 dollars to spend on headrests.
no headrests on the street id bad. but at an autocross u should be ok, unless u go spinning backward into a sloid object. i autox w/o my driver headrest because my harness will pull it right out of the seat. but if i just run the lap (which seems to be working rather well) i leave the headrest in.

If you're having that much trouble getting headrests, I suggest going to the junkyard and buying any Honda headrests you can for as little $$ as you can. Then cut the headrest in half lengthwise and take off the upholstery+stuffing.
I don't know exactly what the inside will look like, but I'm guessing there's one piece of metal, bent down on the ends for the parts that go into the seat.
If the prongs that go into the seat are too wide, cut the middle part to the right size. Then buy a piece of pipe to bolt the two cut ends together. Sew the upholstery, etc back on.
If that's not how the headrest looks inside, post up a pic and I can help figure out a way to make it fit.

thanks a lot, but it turns out that the guy who sold me the car, also owns a wrecking yard, and he hooked my up with a pair for 70. thanks though.
