Default AFC Neo

has anyone ever used a afc neo or heard of anyone using it. if so, is it better or worse than the vafc?

yeh i got one and i wish i would have researched it b4 i bought it. i never had the first 2 models but from what i read its basically the same principle with more options. and jus like the first two models it needs to be tuned to get full use of its features

i would like it if i could tune it myself but im not. i hate to admit it but i bought into that whole pro tuning and also the simple tuning feature that you're supposed to be using if you yourself tried to tune it. well when i got it i read up on how to TRY to tune it in the simple mode. i lowered my vtec engage and without the correct air map my check engine light came on so i just got it reset and now its just sitting on my dash until i take it to get tuned. IMO i wouldnt get it unless you were ready to take it to a dyno soon after.

which cel code did you get?

if you engage vtec too low, you will get code 22, vtec oil pressure switch.

But definitely, afc's aren't worth the money unless they get tuned with a wideband and a dyno.

im ob2 so i got it checked out and i figured it was because i set it too low becuase the code stated it was a vtec malfunction. so now i gotta wait to tune it but i just dropped some cash on a camber kit so that'll have to wait

yeah, my cel will come on anything lower than probably 4200-4300. i have it set now at 4700, but h23 will take vtec at a little lower rpms. The h22 with stock internals needs a few more rpm's to make use of the more aggressive cam profile..

a hundred or two rpm's may help, but vtec does nothing at too low of rpms.. i bet your nose hit the wheel when you had it set at 3500

yea it made great power. Graph is very solid for such a mild bolt on setup.

just remember that this is a full tune with crome....not an afc

Good tuning, must have been a healthy engine too.

the only thing that bugged me was the lean spike. No matter what i did, it wouldnt go away, lol, so i said expletive it. The engine appeared to like it anyway

I have one basically to drop my vtec point since I have the H23 tranny on an H22, and didnt want to drop vtec on the 1-2 shift.

At some distant point I will be building and boosting, so I will have a properly tuned ems then.
