Default sway bars: ST sway bar interference with lower ties ( searched)

yeah i searched already about interference and looked at a few pics but didnt really pertain to me.

i just ordered my ST sway bar kit right now tonight from summit. 93 dx. ordered the kit for cars with no sway bars oem, to save some cash and time from having to go lca hunting.

now i am looking to order some tie bars, to complete the bars down under, i dont care what name, or brand, just lower tie bars front and rear down under that do the trick right. no need to tell me "spoon, cusco, benen" etc etc i know..thats not my prob. my prob is that ive seen the st kit in some pics and there doesnt *appear* to be room to fasten the lower rear tie to the chassis in some of the pics i have seen. my question is can someone confirm a certain rear tie bar that u know for a fact works (space wise) with the ST rear kit/bracket/sub frame mounting location?? thanks..if i over looked this in my search then sorry and thanks.

note: i saw that combo of lower tie and sway but id rather do it the "conventional" way

ok..(borrowed from member on this board)..looks like not much clearance or am i jus trippin and its just the angle he took it at? looks like the bracket is right against the bolt from where he shot it at.

in this pic (borrowed from hybrid-k.com)..looks like there IS room.

i duno sorry if im trippin just wanna get your respected opinions before i drop cash. wanna try out the sways and ties at speedtrials on the 27th even though i know most/just about all the change i will feel will be from the sways.

the bottom pic is for 96-00 not 92-95. if yours is anything like the first pic, then i think you might not be able to run a rear lower bar. heck, i have a 00 and it looks like i might have trouble mounting a lower tie bar because of the position where i mounted the sway bar brackets...

Been there, done that. No lower tie will fit the 92-95 with a ST rear swaybar without modification. There are some lower ties that WILL fit with modification. Which ones?

1. Integra type R - but this requires a welded "tab" onto the subframe that the ITR has.
2. Neuspeed - this WILL work, but it's a giant PIA. Why? Because the lower bolthole of the mounting plate will not allow the mounting of the lower tie as is. The only fix is to "custom grind" the lower mounting plate into a U hole jammed against the lower tie arm. Each side will, unfortunately, be different and require a slightly different grind to be a "perfect" jam, but it can be done.

I would post pics of mine (solution #2), but I don't have a dig cam, and I'm too lazy to develop one 35mm photo for a scan.

yep, that first pic of the EG is mine. there's no room to put a tie bar in there unless you make a custom one, or create some type of 'adaptor' which will lower the bar below the sway bar. IMO, i didn't even feel a difference when i installed my upper strut bars, so i am not going to even bother with tie bars

Pics not working, but I think I have an idea what you're on about. I have ITR rear sway on my 93 and run the Neuspeed LCA tie bar. Had to use longer (custom) LCA bolts and a 1" stand-off to make the Neuspeed fit. I am using the Beaks SRKII before he adapted it or came out with the revised kit to work with LCA tie bars.

Works great. Check out the pic, plus more coming at the link in sig soon.....

Beaks first kit WILL work with a lower tie bar, but the overall design MUST have been inferior to the current design because...well, he doesn;t sell it anymore...

I was a LARGE flat plate with the standoofs for the recess in the lower control arm attachment area with a flat surface and longer bolts included. Tie bar bolted right up...

I'm not ENTIRELY sure on this, but I have the SRK II, not I......now there is a revised version available out that Wil made as a result of people wanting to have the ability to use the LCA tie bar. It consists of exactly what I posted above.

See http://beaksproducts.com/products.html for more info.

could a easy solution simply lie in cutting an angle off the bottom of the ST brackets?would that cause any problems with strength?

Yes. This is exactly what I meant by "custom grinding" the brackets. I dunno about long term strength, but mine is working just fine.

Bingo. I didn't buy my kit from Wil.....I had the stand-offs made at a machine shop, and ordered the longer bolts. I don't know if the LCA tie bar will work by cutting the brackets on the sway bar mount......at least not with the Beaks type kit. The Beaks brackets (which I feel are CRUCIAL to evenly loading the subframe) mean you can't add the tie bar without the stand-offs.
