Default Anoying ignition problem please help

Hi, I bought my 91 CRX Si from some guy who installed a push button ignition relay. Its very anoying and its been giving me trouble. I removed all the wires and the relay from the car. Everything seems to be in order..I taped the wires he cut back to orginial positions but the car wont start. I get all the lights but doesnt start. It only works with that relay. Please let me know how I can take this off and get my car going again.

this is a picture of that kit he put it.

start by double checking the wiring look for anything that was cut by the previous owner and then check your connections grounds ect then check them again oh and that is really ugly.

I did just that. He cut three wires. One is white with a black stripe that leads directly to the ignition. The other is a sort of gray. And the other is a blue/black with white stripe. He just cut a little section of it to twist on those red white and yellow wires from that kit.....and yea I know its ugly thats why I want to get rid of it...

Is there an ignition diagram anywhere??

I guess they jumped on the JDM "clean" bandwagon. But when I bought my CRX it had blue, yellow, and many other colored parts on it. It had som ricer seats and a whole deal of APC things. But that single cam put down a 15.6@85mph on a full tank of gas.. not bad for when it was in ricer mode.

Maybe he put the button in for a reason, like the ign switch went out?

Hey thanks for taking the time to search. I went to the dealer and those a**holes told me "thats what you get when you modify your car" after I explained to them it wasnt me. Im thinking of taking the whole colum apart to see if there are any other wires that he might of cut into. As for the ignition switch being out...its not.. I dont remember exactly what I didnt but i pulled some wires and took off the bottom and the car started.. too bad I dont remember how I did that.

If the wires are just twisted together, they might not have a good enough connection. Try soldering them. Since they're thick, you'll need at least a 140 watt soldering gun with some thinner solder. Leaded solder works a LOT better than unleaded.

I have seen a bad ignition switch in a civic once. It was one with other electrical problems already. The switches come with the wiring harness all the way down to the side of the steering column/fusebox. I have a working used one, if you want one. You can also fix it with this guide I made years ago:

Do you have any good friends with 88-91 civics? Try borrowing that harness from them, and see if there's more or if that fixes it.

I have a spare you could use/have cheap, but shipping would probably make it not worth it.
