why do i lose power on second gear??? 93 prelude vtec
ok took the lude to the 1/8 the car is completely stock engine, only has a generic intake and an trust exhaust...the problem im looking is that when i shift from 1st to second at 7.5k im droping to around 4k and losing power without vtec..3rd gear is no problem is droping around 5.5 to 6k...is that normal on a stock prelude?? a vafc should fix that problem right?
1/8 did 10.15@72.22 with an 2.69 60' traction was an isue didnt had good tires and it rained the day before

VAFC is controling vtec and air it wont do u any difference about 2nd gear, it will only make ur vtec kick in earlier or later

i know but i could adjust the vafc so vtec engages at around 4.5k and i wouldent lose power in 2nd gear

how do you know putting vtec at 4500 will help? it could cause even more loss of power.
sounds like you just need to practice.

When I shift around redline I still end up over 6000 rpms into the next gear.

no, its just going to bandaid the problem.
shifting at 8k on the tach, you should never drop out of vtec. On my stock internal h22a, i would shift at 8k on the tach and land no less than 6k in every gear.

maybe your low-high vtec crossover is set too high?...in that case set it to 5000 rpm or so

8k on the tach is the stock rev limiter. so no, its not too high. In reality its 7700, the tach is off.
and he cant manipulate vtec as he doesnt have a controller

If this is at the track it sounds like you just need practice launching it. im sure your car doesnt die out if your rolling at low rpm's and hit the gas and shift to 2nd. sounds like your launching it at the wrong rpm's and as soon as you hit 2nd the car dies out. seen it happen when launchin at wrong rpm's, including myself. practice

you need practice on driving
maybe you're shifting into 2nd before you get traction in first so it will bog down.
even if you're at 8k rpm and your tires are slipping, you gotta get traction before you shift into the next gear or it will bog down like that.

This has been my experience also, tach showed 8K at rev cut, V-AFC indicated 7704 max rpm.

absolutely no way for us to tell you that without driving your car. Depends on your driving style, how much you like replacing clutches, Suspension, tires, engine torque and many many many other factors.
My best advise is go out and practice
