when you push in the clutch and rattles, check the release bearing, pilot bearing and bolts are torqued.

mabe two separate problems try adjusting your valves (for the ticking) if you recently did that mabe forgot to tighten one back down and it is rattled loose.

search valve adjustment that should yeild plenty of results if not here then just try google it is kinda hard to explain your settings should be written on a sticker on the inside of the hood you will need a feeler gauge flathead screwdriver and i think a ten or twelve mm wrench.

just read the second half of your post. i wouldn't really wanna spend the time or money it takes to rebuild your engine everyone is doing swaps so you can pick up a d15b2 really cheap look around locally first you should be able to find one for like 50 bucks to around umm free if you look hard enough. good luck

c'mon there have got to be tons of ricers they are all over the place jk you could always get a zc imported from japan i think they run around 600 or so the sohc zc is really just an a6 with a slightly ported head and a bit more aggressive camshaft. also engines from japan average around 40k or so

with those kinda miles (210k) the ticking might be that your pistons have bored out your cylinder walls a little bit.

You know, with the drill press that they incorporate into the cylinders.

(I think he means ovaled or otherwise warped from friction)
