Default h22 sroker

i recently put a rebuilt h22 with h23 crank and rods. my car isnt runnng right at all. it seems that all the mechanicals are in check but i think its running too lean. so my question is do i need to upgrade my fuel system due to the increase in comprssion? need some help here ive come pretty far in this project to accept that im in over my head.

You need an EMS and to have it properly tuned. Stock ecu/fueling components aren't going to cut it for your engine.

stock p13. and ill tell you what i have to give you a better idea of what im working with so far. ported and polished head, injen cold air, megan header and down pipe, high flow cat, skunk2 cat back, exedy stage 2 clutch, fidanza 8lb fly wheel, and unorthodox underdrive crank pulley

how much did i change my compression. i heard, and dont know if its true, i could use the eclipse turbo injectors i have and get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to get the exta fuel i need. i read that i could up my fuel prssure by 10% on stock fuel system

why do you say you think its lean? you are probably right but any specific reason?

on a side note, what did you do to your pistons to compensate for the difference in compression heights?

well the firtst time i drove it the header turned cherry red. i didnt do anything to my pistons. i had my guy at the machine shop take a look and he said it would be fine as is. ive had it running and i know that there is no piston to valve contact. it seems to run at idle okay but its not making much power. once i get it up to about 3500 rpm it just dies off and puts a little bit

which h22 pistons are you using?

you are running really high compression on a stock ecu.

What were you doing to make the header glow

stock engine management is fine with that setup, you wont need to change it unless you get cams.

h22a1 pistons wich i believe are 10-1 stock. i was told the header was glowing because it was running too lean. it only did that once and im starting to think it was doing that because i still had a little bad gas in it. i was just talking to a buddy of mine and we were discussing the possibilty that my timing may be slightly off. i guess i just have a few things to play with. i also need to run y vtec wires. do you know how to do that or have any links

I wish I took pix when we had a Euro R header glowing I believe it was 2 runners... scary but unusual to see I believe the timing was off and had to switch out dizzy internals...it got glowing in a matter of like 45 seconds to a minuted... I can't remember if this was when he was trying to run the Euro R injectors with the p13

I'm not sure exactly what #, but with the extra stroke of the H23 and same combustion chamber of h22, you will have much higher compression ratio. *left field estimate 11:1*

It just amazes me how people will spend time and money installing a "different" motor but not spend any time/money to address getting it to run correctly with tuning.
You should be able to get it to run decently with a vafc for now......youre obviously on a budget.
DSM injectors are nice but I would have them B&B'd by RC before installing them. I don't trust anything that was just "removed" from a DSM.

you need to ditch that p13 and go p28 with crome.. cheapest way to fix your problem. and get it tuned on crome!!!

RTP, do it yourself, its extreamly simple. All you need is a laptop (or a really long usb cable to your computer)

When in over your head, throw yourself a lifeline and speak with a licensed mechanic.

you need to verify you're timing first if you even think thats an issue. go over the cam gears and marks and make the belt is installed correctly and then verify you're timing with a timing light and the marks on the flywheel. It sounds like the timing is too far retarded.

No, that has nothing about hybrid engines, it's a factory manual.
