Default Low fuel light

I have a 97 civic ex and when the low fuel light come on and i go to refill the tank the blub blows. i have change it about 3 times already. What could be causeing this problem thanks

ummm....unless i read it wrong, are you sure it's blowing? it's sorta supposed to go off when you fill it back up?

lol, I hope he's trying to say once the gas is back down near empty the bulb doesn't work again??

I know it goes off when i fill the tank but when it empty again the light don't come on.

ahhh....well i'd start with the sending unit in the tank. the level is determined by a little bob that floats up/down with the fuel level. maybe something's jacked to where when it goes up, it shorts something out so it's dead before it comes back down.

not sure...i drive a 5th gen, so i don't have a fuel light to give me hell.
